My name is Mike Richard, and I am the co-owner and Hospital Director of Resurge Veterinary Surgical Specialists and Rehabilitation, LLC.

We opened our practice on January 4, 2021. One of the most important decisions left unanswered prior to opening was which person or company we could trust with one of the most critical elements of our business – our IT system. Our IT system and internal network are as important to a veterinary hospital as they are to any other hospital. We manage patient medical records and client data through our veterinary software provider on almost 20 different assets ranging from computers (laptops and desktops), office printers, prescription label printers, etc. within our 4100sqft facility. Losing access to our data through outside cyberattacks or poor data management would cripple us significantly and grind operations to a halt, so we had to make sure this decision was not made hastily or carelessly: it is as important as choosing any other major asset in the practice.

Just 1 month prior to opening, I engaged with Nick Morgan, Business Development Manager, and Don Monistere, President of General Informatics to discuss the scope of our practice and IT needs. Nick was in contact with us daily to make sure we had everything we needed, and the senior engineer assigned to our project, John James, set the bar for what I’d expect in terms of professionalism and technical capability. As a manager of technical service people for almost 20 years before opening this practice, I couldn’t have asked for anyone better to setup our hardware and internal network. John has an incredible amount of technical knowledge, and he acted as a bridge between our phone service provider, internet provider, and veterinary software provider. Both Nick and John remained available for any and all questions regarding the terms of our agreement, the hardware, network, and everything in between – they established early on that they would take care of all of our needs getting up and running, and we opened without a hitch. Nick continues to stay in touch with us to make sure our needs are continuing to be met, and we couldn’t be more satisfied with our decision.

We enrolled in GI’s TotalCARE package which allows us to have afterhours support, for whatever and whenever we need them, to take care of our IT needs. This was a major relief knowing that I didn’t have to source a local IT person or hire an additional employee for issues that were above my own head after the initial project was completed.
